The Rolls‑Royce TT2400 is a high‑power tunnel‑type bow thruster delivering up to 1 000 kW through a 2.4 m diameter duct, providing strong low‑speed maneuvering thrust for large vessels. As a Bow Thruster, it is normally installed in a bow or stern tunnel, or in a retractable housing, with an electric, hydraulic or mechanical drive and bridge control interfaces. In that role, its primary purpose is to generate transverse or steerable thrust for low-speed manoeuvring, berthing and position control. Tunnel thrusters provide lateral thrust through a fixed transverse tunnel, while retractable azimuth units can be lowered and steered to provide vectored thrust.
