- Confirm the safety net, where fitted, is rigged, undamaged and correctly attached
- Function-test raising/lowering through the full range and check for smooth operation
- Check the securing/stowage arrangement and lashings in the stowed position
- Verify the load test/thorough examination certificate is current
- Inspect the lower platform and roller/skid arrangement at the ship/shore interface
