Cylinder liner scuffing: Local welding and wear between piston ring and liner inner surface caused by inadequate lubrication or oil film breakdown
Visual inspection of liner for scratches, micro-welding and discoloration; check local surface roughness; hone liner or replace if necessary
Piston crown and ring groove wear: Surface stress, wear and cracks in piston crown and ring grooves require thickness measurements
