This is a horizontal centrifugal pump designed for maritime applications. Plenty Mirrlees produced the P-Serie (Marine) pumps, which were manufactured between 1960 and 2000, with approximately 90 different variants. The pumps are capable of handling seawater or ballast, with a flow range of 100 to 2500 cubic meters per hour and a head range of 10 to 80 meters. They are available in several nominal pipe sizes, ranging from 80 to 300 millimeters. The pumps feature a cast iron construction with a bronze impeller and adhere to British marine standards. Power is supplied either by an electric motor or a steam turbine. While these pumps are no longer in active production, UK specialist workshops continue to service the installed base. The legacy nature of the equipment means that repairs often involve refurbishment and the sourcing of parts through UK specialist refurbishers. Common issues encountered with these pumps include aged mechanical seals, bearing wear, impeller wear or corrosion, and casing erosion.
