Inspect the hull intake, jet pump, impeller, stator or nozzle components where accessible, shaft and bearings, and surrounding structure for debris, impact damage, corrosion, abnormal play, and signs of cavitation or rubbing. Check the cooling-water circuit, hoses, clamps, pump or pressure supply arrangement, and accessible passages for restriction, leakage, salt deposits, and damaged rubber components. Inspect the fuel and ignition systems for leakage, water contamination, deteriorated hoses, restricted filters, corroded connectors, damaged grounds, and evidence of heat or moisture ingress. Check engine mounts, driveline coupling, shaft seal, exhaust connections, bilge condition, battery restraint, ventilation, and electrical protection because a small leak or loose connection can quickly affect a compact PWC or jet-boat machinery space. During a running check, observe starting, idle, throttle response, cooling behavior, warning indications, bilge condition, abnormal vibration or pump noise, and whether engine speed corresponds normally with delivered thrust.
