PPG / Sigma SigmaShield 880 — Paint & Coating Systems. As an Epoxy Primer, it is normally installed on the hull, ballast or cargo tank, deck, pipework or structural surface identified by the listed coating type. In that role, its primary purpose is to protect steel or other substrates against corrosion, fouling, cargo attack, heat or fire exposure as applicable. Antifouling, epoxy, ballast-tank, cargo-tank, fire-retardant and shop-primer systems have different surface-preparation and overcoating requirements, so products must not be interchanged without documentation. SIGMASHIELD™ 880 is a two-component, high-build, polyamine adduct-cured epoxy coating. It is designed for use in offshore splash zones and offers excellent sea water resistance and corrosion protection.
