A high‑power 5 MW (5000 kW) stern tunnel thruster with a 4.5 m duct diameter, capable of delivering up to 600 kN of thrust for precise low‑speed maneuvering of large vessels. As a Tunnel Thruster, it is normally installed in a bow or stern tunnel, or in a retractable housing, with an electric, hydraulic or mechanical drive and bridge control interfaces. In that role, its primary purpose is to generate transverse or steerable thrust for low-speed manoeuvring, berthing and position control. Tunnel thrusters provide lateral thrust through a fixed transverse tunnel, while retractable azimuth units can be lowered and steered to provide vectored thrust.
