Davit System (Lifeboat/Raft) · Lifesaving Appliances (LSA)
Marine davits are crucial equipment for crew evacuation and safety on maritime vessels. The W04M.02.21 model, manufactured by Global Davit GmbH, is an IMO-approved unit designed to meet SOLAS certification standards for personnel capacity. The davit's functionality and durability are supported by its robust construction and adherence to stringent safety guidelines. Regular maintenance checks, including annual functional tests with 1.1 times the safe working load (SWL) for the on-load release gear (OLRG), are essential. Additionally, wire ropes must be inspected for kinks, corrosion, and broken strands, requiring replacement if more than 10 percent of the wire rope is damaged over an 8-diameter length. The brake system needs to be checked for wear on the brake lining and to ensure the descent speed adheres to SOLAS regulations. Structural corrosion should be monitored, particularly in zinc-coated structures and stainless steel fastenings, to prevent damage from neglect. Spare parts are available through Global Davit GmbH or authorized distribution partners, with a lead time of 2 to 6 weeks. Regular servicing and compliance with maintenance schedules are critical to ensure the equipment remains operational and compliant with SOLAS and MSC regulations.
