CB20-MAX
The Alfa Laval S.p.A. CB20-MAX is a brazed plate heat exchanger from the Alfa Laval CB product line. Thin corrugated plates form alternating flow channels, while brazing seals the media inside the plate pack and strengthens the contact points between plates. The compact gasket-free construction is used for liquid-to-liquid heat transfer as well as selected refrigeration, heating and cooling duties. On board ships, a CB unit may be found in auxiliary cooling systems, oil coolers, HVAC equipment, heat pumps or other packaged machinery where space is limited. The MAX suffix identifies a distinct configuration within the CB model family; exact differences in pressure rating, plate arrangement, connection options and capacity must be confirmed from the manufacturer documentation. The exchanger is selected as part of the complete system, so allowable media, pressures, temperatures and cleaning methods must be confirmed for the installed version.

Service & Maintenance
Trend temperatures, pressures and pressure drop across both circuits and investigate gradual performance deterioration. Maintain strainers and fluid treatment to prevent deposits from entering the narrow channels. Inspect the plate pack and connections externally for corrosion, leakage and vibration damage and verify that piping is independently supported. Chemical cleaning should follow Alfa Laval guidance and be compatible with the plate and brazing materials. Where freezing is possible, verify flow and control protection. Replace the exchanger if pressure integrity cannot be restored by approved external repairs.
