Check and replace both filter elements on a defined service interval (differential pressure or calendar-based), even if only one element has been in service, to ensure symmetric filter performance.

Inspect and test the duplex transfer/rotary valve for smooth operation, absence of cross-leakage between housings, and correct seating in both filter positions before and after each maintenance.

Drain and inspect the sump bowls for accumulated water and sediment; verify proper function of the manual drain valve and any in-line water-in-fuel (WIF) sensor or alarm.

Check all O-rings, bowl seals, and head gaskets for cracking, swelling, or deformation; replace with manufacturer-specified parts at every element change to prevent bypass leakage.

Monitor the differential pressure gauge/indicator under operating conditions; replace the active element immediately if pressure drop exceeds the published limit (typically 0.5–1.0 bar depending on series) to avoid filter collapse.

Inspect housing bowl, head, and mounting bracket for corrosion, mechanical damage, and secure fastening; verify torque on bowl wing bolts or locking ring collar to manufacturer specification.

Verify fuel compatibility and temperature: confirm the filter assembly and element media are rated for the actual fuel type (diesel, HFO, biodiesel blends), operating temperature, and pressure in service.

After any maintenance involving the duplex valve or bowl removal, perform a leak test at working pressure and confirm fuel flow and vacuum gauge readings are within the specified normal operating range before returning to service.
