Common issues
- Antenna cable or connector corrosion reducing signal quality without an obvious fault indication
- Loss of differential correction signal, degrading position accuracy below what DP operations require
- Multipath interference near the superstructure causing position noise
- Antenna dome UV degradation or physical damage (bird strike, ice)
- Backup battery for settings/configuration retention depleted after long service
- Firmware version mismatch with the DP or reference system it feeds
- Position jumps or HDOP degradation flagged intermittently rather than continuously
Inspection checklist
- Check antenna mounting security and cable condition along its run
- Compare reported position and accuracy against a second independent reference system
- Check correction signal lock/status indicator
- Inspect the antenna dome for cracks, discolouration, or physical damage
- Verify power supply and, where fitted, backup battery condition
- Confirm installed firmware revision against the manufacturer's current release notes
- Test alarm outputs to the DP or bridge monitoring system
- Check earthing and lightning protection at the antenna mounting point

Class wants evidence that at least the required number of independent references were actually operating and compared, not just installed.
