Auxiliary Engine (Generator Set) · Auxiliary Engines
This engine operates on a four-stroke cycle, utilizing a turbocharger with an intercooler to enhance combustion efficiency. It is manufactured by Wärtsilä and designated as the 8LW26-GS-50Hz. This 8-cylinder engine has a bore of 260mm and a stroke of 320mm, achieving a power output of 1520kW at 750rpm. Fuel flexibility is provided by its ability to operate on Heavy Fuel Oil (HFO), Marine Diesel Oil (MDO), and Gas Oil (GO). The engine is designed for operation at a frequency of 50Hz and boasts a genset output of 1444kW with a genset KVA of 1805. Wärtsilä provides detailed specifications, including Displacement per cylinder at 17 liters, Mean Effective Pressure (MEP) at 25.5 bar (900 RPM) / 24 bar (1000 RPM), Piston Speed at 9.6 m/s (900 RPM) / 10.7 m/s (1000 RPM), and a specific fuel oil consumption (SFOC) of 186-192 g/kWh at ISO conditions and 85% load. The 8LW26-GS-50Hz weighs 21.9 tons. Production of this model was discontinued around 2010, with approximately 720 engines manufactured since a redesign in 1996.
