The MeccAlte ECO46 is a 1500 kVA, 4‑pole marine alternator delivering 400 V at 50 Hz, designed for high‑power shipboard electricity generation with class H insulation and an IP23 enclosure. As an Alternator, it is normally installed in the engine room or generator space, mechanically coupled to a diesel engine, turbine, shaft drive or other prime mover. In that role, its primary purpose is to convert mechanical power into three-phase electrical power for the shipboard distribution system. Alternator variants differ in frame size, voltage, frequency, excitation and cooling, but all depend on winding insulation, bearings, excitation and stable prime-mover speed.
