The JA‑TT‑400 is a stern‑mounted tunnel thruster delivering up to 48 kN of thrust at 400 kW, designed for precise low‑speed maneuvering and DP assistance on medium‑size vessels. As a Tunnel Thruster, it is normally installed in a bow or stern tunnel, or in a retractable housing, with an electric, hydraulic or mechanical drive and bridge control interfaces. In that role, its primary purpose is to generate transverse or steerable thrust for low-speed manoeuvring, berthing and position control. Tunnel thrusters provide lateral thrust through a fixed transverse tunnel, while retractable azimuth units can be lowered and steered to provide vectored thrust.
