A retractable azimuth thruster mounted at the bow, providing 750 kW (≈105 kN) of thrust with a 950 mm propeller diameter and the ability to be withdrawn into the hull for reduced drag during cruising. As a Retractable Azimuth Thruster, it is normally installed below the hull or in a dedicated thruster compartment as a steerable propulsion unit capable of rotating its thrust direction. In that role, its primary purpose is to provide both propulsion and steering by vectoring propeller thrust through the azimuth unit. Compared with a conventional shaft, rudder and propeller arrangement, an azimuth thruster combines thrust generation and steering in one rotating unit.
