Wärtsilä PMS is a shipboard electrical power-management system. It is normally installed within the vessel automation and switchboard control architecture, with interfaces to generators, breakers and major consumers. Its primary purpose is to coordinate generator loading, breaker operation, load sharing, load shedding and restoration of the ship electrical plant. Unlike a passive switchboard, a power-management system actively supervises and commands generation and distribution functions through automation logic and measurement inputs.
