In general the efficiency gain is between 3 - 8% for single screw vessels and 2 - 6% for twin screw vessels. PROMAS is the latest development for meeting various challenges on the market. The system is customised for the individual ship and the shipping route to meet different ship profile requirements. PROMAS is an integrated propulsion and manoeuvring system. The system consists of a propeller, costa bulb, hub cap, and twisted rudder. The integrated system is designed as one unit for creating the transition of water streamlined. The system is optimised for hydrodynamic properties. The design of Promas enables increased energy efficiency, propulsive efficiency, and manoeuvrability. Generally, the efficiency gain is 3-8% for single-screw vessels and 2-6% for multi-screw ships. The development results in efficiency improvements and consequently consumes lesser fuel for the ship. The system is equipped with a bulb which optimises the hydrodynamic properties by reducing the creation of vortices and hub drag. This is making the system more efficient in propulsion thrust and consumes less energy. The propeller can be manufactured and custom-designed with four- or five-blades, to fit the operational vessel profile. PROMAS can be equipped with a nozzle for vessels needing enhanced thrust effects. In other words, ships that require high bollard pull such as anchor handlers, fishing, tugs and trawlers. The rudder is designed to reduce the risk of cavitation and increase propulsive efficiency and manoeuvrability. It is also possible to equip the rudder with a robust extension flap for improved low speed manoeuvering.
