Common issues

• Gelcoat crazing or blistering (osmosis) on the GRP hull over time, particularly if kept permanently afloat
• Engine bay ventilation/bilge blower faults leading to fume accumulation before starting
• Seacock and through-hull fitting corrosion, particularly at dissimilar-metal fittings
• Battery and electrical connection corrosion from the marine environment
• Fuel system water or contamination after long idle periods
• Steering, control cable or hydraulic trim system leaks and wear

Inspection checklist

• Check hull for gelcoat damage, blistering, or impact damage below the waterline
• Inspect seacocks and through-hull fittings for free operation and corrosion
• Test primary and backup bilge pumps for function
• Test bilge blower/engine bay ventilation before starting the engine(s)
• Inspect engine mounts, belts and hoses for wear or cracking
• Check steering and control function
• Verify safety equipment (fire extinguishers, life jackets, flares) is in date and stowed correctly
• Check battery condition, terminal corrosion, and bonding/earthing
• Inspect fuel tank vents and fuel system for leaks

• Sacrificial anodes matching the fitted hardware
• Drive bellows/boots if fitted with a sterndrive
• Raw water pump impeller
• Fuel filters
• Bilge pump

Safety

• Fuel vapor accumulation in an enclosed engine bay - ventilate before starting, particularly with gasoline engines
• Carbon monoxide risk from engine or generator exhaust near the swim platform or an enclosed cockpit
• Battery gassing in enclosed compartments
• Do not exceed the RCD-certified passenger/load capacity for the design category

Class survey

This is a recreational craft certified under the EU Recreational Craft Directive (RCD reference RCD-B-235), not a classed commercial vessel - there is no Continuous Survey Machinery regime. RCD conformity covers design category, stability and CE marking at build; ongoing upkeep is the owner's responsibility rather than a class society's. If the vessel is later used commercially it would need to meet the applicable flag-state small commercial vessel code instead.
