Inspection checklist

  • Visually inspect the full hose length for cuts, abrasion, mildew and UV damage
  • Check couplings for corrosion, thread condition and secure attachment to the hose
  • Inspect coupling gaskets for hardening or damage
  • Conduct a hydrostatic pressure test per FSS Code/maker requirement and check for leaks or bursting
  • Confirm the hose is correctly connected, flaked/coiled and stowed in its box or reel
  • Check the hose reel or rack mechanism, if fitted, for free operation
  • Verify hose length and diameter match the fire main/nozzle it is paired with
  • Confirm hose markings (size, pressure rating, date) remain legible
