Annual functional test at 1.1 × SWL; after test check locking; inspect for dried paint/contamination/corrosion in lock, thread/shank wear/cracks. 5-year dynamic test. SOLAS III / MSC.402(96).
Inspect for kinks, corrosion, strand breakage (>10% over 8d length = replacement), inaccessible sections; correct/certified ropes; if required turn for full inspection; renewal per manufacturer interval.
Brake pad wear; check lowering speed (SOLAS S=0.4+0.02H, max ~36 m/min); remote release function; brake not blocked by poor maintenance.
Galvanized structure + stainless steel fasteners for pitting/discoloration; NDT of load-bearing structure for cracks; incident RRS Sir David Attenborough 2021 (severe corrosion due to poor maintenance).
Planned maintenance complete since installation? Annual + 5-year tests recorded in logbook; manufacturer instructions followed; only authorized personnel (MSC.1/Circ.1205 Rev.1).
