The DEIF GCU 100 is a genset control unit for engine control and protection and for generator and busbar protection, with a graphical display and integrated emulation software. It comes in three variants, GCU 111, GCU 112 and GCU 113, with item numbers 2912560030-02, 2912560030-03 and 2912560030-04. Generator breaker control starts with GCU 112, while tie breaker control and emergency genset control are only in GCU 113. All variants provide engine start/stop, engine monitoring and protection, CAN bus engine communication J1939, Modbus RS-485, programmable M-Logic, AOP-2 remote annunciator support and an alarm and event log. Generator protection with 2 steps each covers reverse power (ANSI 32), over-current (50), fast over-current (51), over-voltage (59), under-voltage (27), over-frequency and under-frequency (81) and overload (32).
Busbar over-voltage (59B), under-voltage (27B), over-frequency and under-frequency (81B) also have 2 steps, while current unbalance (46), voltage unbalance (60), overexcitation (24) and loss of excitation (40) have 1 step. With the delay set to minimum, generator protection responds in under 400 ms and fast over-current in under 300 ms. The measuring input is 50 to 480 V AC phase-phase (50 to 300 V AC for UL/cUL Listed units), and the current input takes 1 A or 5 A from a current transformer. The auxiliary supply is 6 to 36 V DC, and the unit survives 0 V for 50 ms at a 12 V DC supply before dropout. It is panel-mounted, measures 160 x 220 mm, weighs 0.9 kg and has an IP52/IP65 front with gasket.
Operating temperature is -20 to 70 degrees C. Approvals listed are CE, UL/cUL Listed and UL/cUL Recognized, and marine approvals are stated as pending. The ECU 100/GCU 100 engine communication manual covers CANbus links to Caterpillar/Perkins, Cummins, Detroit Diesel DDEC, Deutz EMR, Iveco, John Deere JDEC, MTU, Scania EMS and Volvo Penta EMS engines, with CAN terminals 53, 54 and 55. Accessories include the AOP-2 operator panel (item 2912890050) and the USB to TTL PC interface cable (item 1034000011).
