Inspect the engine compartment for fuel vapor, fuel or oil leakage, cooling-water leakage, exhaust leakage, poor ventilation, loose wiring, overheated terminals, and evidence of previous flooding or seawater exposure. Check raw-water and closed-circuit cooling components as fitted, including strainers, pumps, hoses, clamps, heat exchangers, thermostatic components, and accessible manifolds or passages for restriction, corrosion, scaling, leakage, and deteriorated rubber parts. Inspect ignition and fuel-system components, filters, hoses, electrical grounds, batteries, charging equipment, engine mounts, coupling or drive connections, and the exhaust system for deterioration or unauthorized modifications.
