Aalborg-OC-TCi-6.0-16bar
The Alfa Laval S.p.A. Aalborg-OC-TCi-6.0-16bar is a marine composite steam boiler in the Aalborg OC-TCi family. It combines an oil-fired boiler section with an exhaust-gas heat-recovery section in one vertically arranged unit, allowing steam to be produced by combustion, recovered engine heat or a combination of both depending on the installation. The fired section uses the OC-TCi boiler's dedicated burner and heating surfaces, while the exhaust section recovers heat from diesel-engine exhaust gas. This combined arrangement is used where a vessel requires steam both at sea and during operating conditions when exhaust heat alone is insufficient. The 16bar suffix identifies the pressure-labelled version of the Aalborg-OC-TCi-6.0; exact design and operating pressure must be confirmed from manufacturer documentation. Safe operation depends on correct burner combustion, water level control, feedwater quality, clean gas-side surfaces and functional safety and control systems.

Common failures & inspection points
Service & Maintenance
Inspect the furnace, burner, fired-gas path and exhaust-gas section for soot, corrosion, refractory damage and signs of leakage. Test burner ignition, flame supervision, fuel shutoff, combustion controls and interlocks. Verify feedwater regulation, gauge glasses, low-water protection, pressure controls, safety valves and alarms in accordance with class and vessel procedures. Inspect accessible pressure parts, tubes, headers and casing for corrosion, deposits and cracking. Review boiler-water chemistry, blowdown records and make-up-water consumption. Follow manufacturer documentation for exact opening-up, pressure-test and combustion-setting requirements.
