MOPX-207-HFO-Clarifier
The Alfa Laval S.p.A. MOPX-207-HFO-Clarifier is a legacy high-speed disc-stack oil separator configured for heavy fuel oil clarification. It is normally installed in the machinery-space fuel treatment system to reduce suspended solid contamination in conditioned fuel. In clarifier service the primary duty is solids removal rather than continuous separation of a defined water phase. Centrifugal force drives denser contamination away from the cleaned oil as the fuel passes through the rotating bowl and disc stack. The MOPX family was used in marine fuel- and lubricating-oil separation systems; the exact bowl, discharge and control arrangement depends on the installed specification. Compared with the corresponding purifier version, the MOPX-207-HFO-Clarifier uses a clarifier arrangement and must be assembled and operated accordingly. Exact throughput, permissible feed conditions, bowl arrangement and service limits must be verified from the manufacturer documentation for the installed unit.

Service & Maintenance
Open and inspect the bowl and disc stack according to actual contamination load and the manufacturer maintenance plan. Confirm that the machine is assembled in its clarifier configuration and that all bowl components are correctly positioned. Check sludge characteristics because unusual metal, catalyst fines or other debris may indicate upstream contamination or machinery problems. Inspect the drive, bearings, spindle, seals and any operating-water or sludge-discharge mechanism fitted to the separator. Refer to the exact manual for wear limits, cleaning procedures, tightening values and operating settings.
