Wire rope / lifting medium inspection: check for broken wires, kinks, corrosion, wear, and correct spooling on drum; verify wire rope certification and replacement intervals per manufacturer and class society requirements

Slewing ring and bearing inspection: check for play, abnormal noise, lubrication condition, and corrosion; verify torque of fastening bolts; inspect gear teeth for wear

Hydraulic system (where applicable): check oil level, oil condition/contamination, filter status, hose integrity (abrasion, cracking, fittings), accumulator pre-charge pressure, and absence of leaks

Structural inspection: examine boom, jib, pedestal, and crane house for cracks, corrosion, deformation, weld integrity, and paint/coating condition; particular attention to pedestal deck penetration welds

Safe Working Load (SWL) and overload protection: verify functionality of load moment limiter (LML), anti-two-block device, and overload cut-off; confirm rated capacity indicator calibration

Brakes and safety devices: test hoist, luffing, and slewing brake holding capacity; check emergency stop function; verify anti-collision systems (where fitted) and limit switches on all crane motions

Electrical and control systems: inspect wiring, control pendants, radio remote controls, and junction boxes for moisture ingress and corrosion; verify emergency power-off function and alarm signals

Periodic load test / proof load test: conduct 5-yearly proof load test at 110% SWL (or per class society requirements); document test results and renew lifting gear certificates
