Common failures & inspection points
Visually inspect the impeller (fan blade) for cracks, chips, erosion, or deposits; replace if any blade damage is found to avoid imbalance and vibration
Check motor bearings for abnormal noise (grinding, squealing) and excessive vibration; lubricate sealed bearings per manufacturer schedule or replace if worn
Verify motor electrical connections and cable insulation for corrosion, moisture ingress, and tightness, especially in the salt-air marine environment
Test motor insulation resistance (megger test) periodically to detect winding degradation caused by humidity and salt contamination
Inspect casing (painted steel for VE, stainless steel for VEX) for corrosion, paint blistering, mechanical damage, and integrity of all fixing bolts and clamps
Check and clean protective safety guard (impeller-side protection net) to ensure it is unobstructed and securely fastened; blocked guards restrict airflow
Verify ATEX certification integrity on VE-ex/VEX-ex models: inspect flameproof enclosures for damage, check that all cable glands and seals are rated and intact
Confirm anti-vibration mounts (ANV ring) and duct connections (QT fitting) are not cracked or deformed, and that no abnormal vibration is transmitted to the hull structure
