Common failures & inspection points
Visual inspection for water seepage at seal gland, temperature rise detection, abnormal friction noise. Replace seals showing linear leakage or physical damage on pump nameplate inspection.
Disassemble pump and examine impeller front/back blade surfaces for cavitation pits, notches, corrosion, rust scaling, and blade edge erosion. Replace if damage exceeds acceptable limits.
Measure clearance between impeller and casing wear rings. Check for small gaps indicating abnormal clearance. Replace wear rings per manufacturer schedule (typical 1-2 years) to maintain hydrophore pressure.
Verify side-channel air vents are clear and unobstructed. On MO/BR/MA series, check vent line for mineral deposits or blockage. Ensure air release valve operates freely.
Test manually adjustable pressure relief valve operation. Verify correct pressure setting on nameplate. Check for corrosion or mineral accumulation preventing valve opening. Recalibrate if reading differs from system requirement.
