Verify water level gauge is clean and transparent; test low-water cutoff device to ensure prompt boiler shutdown when water falls below safety line

Inspect burner flame color and stability (should be steady and golden/blue); verify air-fuel mixture ratio; perform combustion analysis for CO₂, O₂, smoke number, and stack temperature

Inspect waterside for scale, rust, carbon deposits, and corrosion; check fire-tube interior for soot, pitting, and thinning; perform water treatment analysis to prevent oxygen corrosion

Verify safety valve lifts at 3% above working pressure; manually test with easing gear; ensure minimum two safety valves installed per SOLAS requirements

Inspect refractory lining minimum twice yearly for cracks, missing sections, excessive soot deposits, and brick displacement; clean combustion chamber and check for air-tightness
