Davit System (Lifeboat/Raft) · Lifesaving Appliances (LSA)
This davit system is designed to rapidly deploy life rafts and rescue boats to evacuate crew members efficiently, adhering to SOLAS certification standards. The TDB-5000 by Vestdavit AS offers a reliable solution for crew safety and evacuation needs. Certified by DNV, the system includes an IMO-approved design with the model number MEDB00001CC. The primary common failures identified include corrosion or blockage of the release hook mechanism, diesel motor start failure due to inadequate regular testing, osmotic blistering in the GRP hull from prolonged water contact, air supply system valve failure, and harness wear from UV exposure and weather conditions. Spare parts are available through Vestdavit AS or authorized distribution partners, with a lead time of 2 to 6 weeks. Regular maintenance is crucial, including a weekly five-minute engine test run and annual servicing of the release hook by an approved service provider as per SOLAS MSC.402(96). Additionally, the GRP hull should be inspected during docking, and a thorough examination should be conducted every five years.
