Verify wire rope certificates are current and kept in cargo gear record book; inspect rope for broken wires, rust, kinking and corrosion; verify load test certificates and thorough examination records are up-to-date per IMO MSC.1/Circ.1663

Test 360-degree rotation capability and slewing speed consistency; inspect rotation gearbox for leaks and wear; verify radio remote controls and proportional valve response; check limit switches and safety device functionality
