Examine wire rope for kinks, broken wires, corrosion, and abrasion; verify diameter loss is within limits; inspect terminations (shackles, splices) for proper attachment and fatigue cracks; conduct proof load test as per class requirements

Verify hook block is properly marked with SWL and proof load; inspect for cracks, bending, or wear; confirm certification plate matches crane model and capacity; test mechanical properties of attachment point

Activate emergency stop button and verify crane stops immediately; test all motion controls (hoist, luff, slew) for smooth operation and proper load limiting; verify sensors and limit switches are functional; confirm radio remote control batteries and signal strength (if applicable)
