Visual inspection of impeller surfaces for erosion patterns, pitting, and material loss. Check for whitish deposits (salt encrustation). Rotate impeller by hand and listen for rubbing sounds.

Inspect seal housing area for dripping, weeping, or salt crystal formation. Check seal flush water supply (if equipped) for proper flow and pressure. Measure leakage rate at discharge.

Listen for grinding, squealing, or knocking sounds during operation. Check bearing temperature with infrared thermometer (should not exceed 80°C). Measure shaft runout with dial indicator. Verify coupling alignment.

Visually inspect suction strainer screen for accumulated salt, algae, or debris. Measure differential pressure across strainer. Perform flow rate test to verify capacity. Check for abnormal vibration.

Inspect external casing for surface rust, pitting, and paint degradation. Check drain holes for blockage. On disassembly, inspect internal surfaces for scale buildup and corrosion rate. Test water quality (chloride content, pH).
