HD35

ComNav HD35 is a marine autopilot or heading-control system. It is normally installed on the bridge with interfaces to the gyro or heading sensor, steering gear and navigation controls. Its primary purpose is to command steering corrections that maintain a selected heading or track-related steering objective. Compared with manual steering, the system closes an automatic control loop using heading feedback and steering commands and therefore depends on correct sensor, rudder and control tuning. The supplied record already contains the available concise model or rating information, so those existing figures are not duplicated here and no additional meaning is inferred from the model code. For exact ratings, dimensions, settings, capacities, materials and variant-specific limits, refer to the manufacturer documentation for the exact figure.

Common failures & inspection points

Heading-sensor or input failure causes wandering, unexpected rudder commands or heading alarms
Rudder-feedback faults cause hunting, overshoot or disagreement between commanded and actual rudder angle
Control-unit or software faults cause loss of automatic mode or repeated alarms
Steering-gear interface faults prevent commanded rudder movement despite normal autopilot display
Incorrect tuning or sea-state settings cause excessive rudder activity, poor course keeping or increased steering-gear wear

Service & Maintenance

Verify heading input, rudder feedback, mode selection, steering response, alarms and changeover to manual steering. Check interfaces to gyro, steering gear and navigation systems. Review unexpected rudder activity or fault history. Exact tuning parameters and acceptance tests require manufacturer and vessel documentation.
