MX612A

GPS Receiver · Position & Heading

Class-certified type (DNV register) · technical data sheet not yet verified

The Simrad MX612A is a marine satellite-navigation receiver. It is normally installed on the bridge with an external GNSS antenna. It is designed for position, time, course and speed data for navigation and other bridge systems. The operating principle relies on reception and processing of satellite navigation signals. The supplied entry gives no additional verified capacity, pressure, power or dimensional figure for this model. Compared with neighbouring models, the relevant differences are supported constellations, display functions, interfaces and integrity monitoring; these must be confirmed from the installed documentation rather than inferred from the model designation alone. Service and survey attention should concentrate on antenna/cabling, satellite tracking, position comparison, data outputs and alarms. For exact ratings, dimensions, tolerances, test limits and model-specific settings, refer to the manufacturer documentation for the exact figure.

What our service work and the manufacturer documentation say about keeping this model running.

Service notes

Verify the equipment against an independent navigation reference where practicable, inspect antennas/transducers, cables and power supplies, and confirm required sensor inputs and alarms. Check data distribution to dependent bridge equipment and review calibration, chart or configuration status appropriate to the device. Use vessel procedures and manufacturer tests for acceptance.

Replacement Parts

Spare parts notes

Carry fuses, connectors, selected power-supply and cooling parts, interface converters and manufacturer-recommended display/processor or sensor spares. Hull-mounted sensor replacement should be planned around the actual access arrangement.

Free of charge — we forward your request to qualified suppliers for Simrad equipment from our network of over 114,000 maritime companies.

Makers and authorised dealers rarely quote marine equipment without the vessel. With these details we usually come back with prices; without them we have to ask first, which costs a few days. If you cannot share the vessel, a photo of the equipment’s rating plate does the same job — send it as a reply to our confirmation e-mail.
