The IHI VTR‑R20‑M3 is a radial‑flow marine turbocharger that provides up to 3.8 :1 pressure boost for medium‑speed 4‑stroke diesel engines with bore diameters between 200 mm and 400 mm. As a Turbocharger, it is normally installed on the intake and exhaust side of a marine diesel engine, using exhaust-gas energy to compress combustion air. In that role, its primary purpose is to increase engine air delivery and support efficient combustion over the operating load range.
