The SXL Water-Lubricated Bearing is a stern tube bearing that uses filtered seawater as the sole lubricant, eliminating oil contamination and meeting EPA VGP standards. As a Stern Tube Seal, it is normally installed in the propulsion train between the prime mover, gearbox and propeller or within the stern-tube and propulsor arrangement. In that role, its primary purpose is to transmit torque, support the shaft, seal the hull penetration or control propeller thrust according to the listed component. Shafts, bearings, seals, couplings, CPP mechanisms and shaft generators perform different roles, so alignment, lubrication and wear limits remain component-specific.
