The Wärtsilä 16VW22-GS-60Hz engine operates on a four-stroke cycle, utilizing turbocharging with an intercooler to enhance its power output. This robust marine engine boasts a V-configuration with 16 cylinders, each with a bore of 220 mm and a stroke of 320 mm. It is capable of generating 2240 kW of power at a rotational speed of 900 rpm, with a fuel consumption rate of 186-192 g/kWh under ISO conditions at 85% load. Designed to operate on a range of fuels, including Heavy Fuel Oil (HFO), Marine Diesel Oil (MDO), and Gas Oil (GO), the 16VW22-GS-60Hz is capable of delivering 2128 kW to a generator, achieving a voltage of 2660 kVA. Wärtsilä discontinued production of this model around 2010, having manufactured approximately 720 units since a redesign in 1996.
