Inspection checklist
- Visual check along accessible cable runs for sheath damage, chafing, discolouration
- Insulation resistance (megger) test at scheduled intervals
- Check gland seals for tightness and correct sealing compound
- Verify cable support/cleating - no excessive sag, no sharp bend radii
- Check screen/armour earthing continuity at termination boxes
- Confirm loading is within rating for the actual bundling/derating in use
- Check fire-stop sealing where the cable passes through bulkheads/decks
- Confirm cable type and rating match the as-built cable schedule for that circuit

Class checks insulation resistance trend records and fire-stop integrity where cables cross bulkhead/deck divisions; a reading that is trending down between surveys, even if still above the minimum, is usually flagged for monitoring.
