H051S - Single Hinged (A60)
Rapp Bomek AS H051S is a single-hinged A60 fire-rated door and should not be treated as a fire hose. It is installed in an A-class fire division to provide personnel access while preserving the required fire integrity of the surrounding bulkhead or enclosure. The door leaf, frame, insulation, hinges, latch and approved hardware function as one tested assembly. A single-hinged arrangement is used where one clear opening is sufficient, in contrast with wider double-leaf fire-door designs. The A60 designation means that installation details, frame attachment, clearances and any vision panel or hardware option must remain within the approved configuration. Damage that still allows the door to open and close can nevertheless compromise its fire performance. The database category should be corrected so inspections focus on the door and passive fire boundary rather than on hose equipment.

Common issues
- Corrosion or seizure of the cabinet door hinges and latch mechanism, especially in weather-exposed locations
- Damage to the A60 insulation core of the door from impact or improper closing
- Missing or perished door gasket/seal, reducing the fire integrity of the A60 rating
- Paint or corrosion buildup preventing the door from closing and latching fully
- Hose, nozzle or valve missing or damaged inside the cabinet at inspection
Inspection checklist
- Confirm cabinet door opens, closes and latches correctly, with the A60 seal intact
- Visual check for corrosion, denting or coating damage on the door and frame
- Check hose, nozzle and isolating valve are present and undamaged inside the cabinet
- Verify fire hose station marking/signage is legible and correctly located per the fire control plan
- Confirm certificate/model reference (MEDB00006ST) matches the installed equipment on class documentation
- Function test the hydrant valve for free operation as part of fire main testing
Service intervals
| Visual/function check of cabinet and door | monthly as part of fire-fighting equipment rounds |
| Hose pressure test | per SOLAS/class requirement, typically every few years or on hose condition |
| Hinge/latch lubrication | at routine maintenance rounds, using a lubricant compatible with fire safety equipment |
Critical spares
- Door gasket/seal set for the A60 door
- Hinge and latch mechanism
- Replacement fire hose matching the station's length and coupling type
- Nozzle/spray-jet fitting
- Hydrant valve spares (washers, seats)
Safety
- A60 rating depends on the door, core and seal being intact - do not paint over or damage the gasket
- Ensure the open cabinet door does not obstruct an escape route
- Hose under pressure can whip if not properly secured - brief crew on safe deployment
Class survey
Surveyor checks fire hose stations against the fire control plan for location and marking, and A60 boundary integrity where fitted in a fire-rated division, and witnesses a hose/hydrant function test; the certificate (DNV MED Module B, cert. MEDB00006ST) is checked for validity.

Common failures & inspection points
Service & Maintenance
Function-test opening, closing and latching and inspect the door leaf, frame, hinges, seals and hardware as part of the vessel's passive-fire-protection program. Verify that the door is not wedged open and that any approved self-closing or hold-open arrangement operates as intended for that installation. Check the identification plate and confirm that replacement hardware is approved for the H051S door system. Corrosion repairs must not reduce the door or frame section or disturb insulation without an approved repair method. Clearances, closing force, seal details and repair tolerances must be taken from Rapp Bomek documentation and the vessel's fire-control approval.
