WP 101 L
Sauer WP 101 L is a 3-stage air-cooled high-pressure power-driven air compressor from the PASSAT series by JP Sauer & Sohn (Kiel, founded 1928, part of the CompAir Group since 2018). Typical application: main starting air compressor for 30 bar ship main engine starting air on bulkers, tankers and container vessels. Delivers 80-120 m³/h FAD at 30 bar. W-arrangement with three cylinders (LP/MP/HP), inter-stage and after-coolers for low discharge temperature. Class-certified (DNV, LR, ABS, BV). Standard equipment on European newbuilds since 1985.

Main service intervals: valve plate inspection every 4,000 h, replacement at 8,000 h. Piston rings 12,000-16,000 h. Main bearings 20,000-30,000 h. Intercooler descaling every 2 years. Daily: condensate drain-off all 3 stages, oil level, intake filter check. Weekly: V-belt tension, safety valve function test.
