Safety

- Confirm de-energisation and discharge of any capacitors in the AVR circuit before handling
Class survey
Shaft generators supplying essential services are typically included in the vessel's electrical survey scope. Surveyors expect evidence of insulation resistance testing, protective relay testing, and confirmation the changeover between shaft generator and other generating sets functions correctly.
