Verify seal orientation and confirm mechanical seal kit installation with ceramic stationary and carbon rotating elements.

Visually inspect the bronze impeller (on accessible models or pump disassembly) for pitting, corrosion, erosion, or material loss. Measure impeller diameter against specifications to identify wear. Check for reduced flow output or increased head indicating impeller damage. Test water sampling for metallic particles.

Check for vibration, unusual noise, or heat generation at motor and pump junction. Verify back-pullout assembly security and coupling alignment. Inspect motor shaft and pump shaft concentricity. Monitor bearing temperature with thermal imaging. Confirm that seal integrity prevents seawater intrusion into bearing area.

Inspect 316 stainless steel hardware, bolts, and fasteners for stress corrosion cracking, white corrosion products, or pitting. Verify bronze case construction (naval bronze alloys 903, 922, 954, 958) for graphitic corrosion patterns where iron matrix erodes leaving graphite skeleton. Check NPT connections and ports for salt crystal buildup.

Verify self-priming function up to 20-foot lift specification on applicable models (48376, 48377, 68716, 68717). Check for air leaks in suction lines and priming chamber. Confirm vortex chamber integrity and impeller fit. Test actual suction head capability under no-flow conditions.
