How the Flottweg Tricanter® works The design and operation of the Tricanter® are based on proven decanter technology . The suspension to be separated is fed into the rotating bowl , where solids settle against the bowl inner surface under the influence of high centrifugal forces. With a defined differential speed relative to the bowl, the scroll continuously transports the settled solids to the conical end of the bowl , where they are discharged. The key difference from a decanter lies in the separate discharge of the two liquid phases : While the light liquid flows out unpressurized , the heavy liquid is discharged under pressure via an adjustable impeller . Thanks to the stepless adjustment of this impeller, the position of the separation zones can be flexibly adjusted even during operation . As a result, the Tricanter® achieves a particularly high degree of separation resolution between the liquid phases and can respond optimally to changing product characteristics and feed conditions.
