Common failures & inspection points

Druckprüfung (Hydrostatic Pressure Test) - Verifizierung der Dichtheitsgrenzwerte

All pumps must undergo factory pressure testing at manufacture (typically 1.5x operating pressure). Documentation of these tests is required.

Wear surfaces and internal gearing – inspection for wear/wear marks

Inspection for scratches, pitting, or play in the internal tooth flanks and bearing surfaces. Tooth flank play should be within specification limits. This is critical for long service life and leak control.

Sealing and shaft penetration – inspection for signs of leakage and wear

Visual inspection of shaft seal (Packing Seal or Mechanical Seal depending on model). Inspection for oil/fluid leakage traces or damage. Particularly critical for sealless mag-drive models (8123A/8124A).

Vibration and noise testing (operational testing)

Test pump under typical operating conditions (rated pressure, rated speed). Abnormal vibrations or noises indicate internal damage or unbalanced impellers.

Material compatibility and corrosion testing (seawater/saltwater environment)

For marine applications: stainless steel models (127A/227A/327A/4227C) inspect for surface corrosion or stress corrosion cracking. Cast iron models require protective coating inspection.
