Bearing lubrication degradation and overheating

Use infrared thermometer to measure bearing temperature. Normal operating temperature should not exceed 10-15°C above ambient. Overheating indicates wear, misalignment, or insufficient lubrication. Measure baseline regularly and monitor for increases.

Mechanical seal degradation and internal leakage

Inspect gland packing or mechanical seal for visible weeping/dripping (acceptable <5 drops/minute). Check pressure at seal cavity.
