GME AccuSat 406

The GME GME AccuSat 406 is a personal locator beacon. It is normally installed carried by an individual or with personal survival equipment. It is designed for personal distress alerting when separated from the vessel or normal communications. The operating principle relies on manual activation of a registered satellite distress beacon, with position/homing functions where fitted. The supplied entry gives no additional verified capacity, pressure, power or dimensional figure for this model. Compared with neighbouring models, the relevant differences are GNSS/homing features, activation method, battery and carrying arrangement; these must be confirmed from the installed documentation rather than inferred from the model designation alone. Service and survey attention should concentrate on registration, battery, self-test, casing/antenna and secure accessible carriage. For exact ratings, dimensions, tolerances, test limits and model-specific settings, refer to the manufacturer documentation for the exact figure.

Common failures & inspection points

Battery depletion or expiry caused by age or storage conditions, noticed from the service marking or failed self-test
Antenna or casing damage caused by impact, weather or poor stowage, noticed visually or through failed self-test
Activation mechanism failure caused by corrosion or mechanical damage, noticed during approved testing
Incorrect registration, identity or pairing caused by administrative/configuration error, noticed when equipment data do not match vessel records
Water ingress caused by damaged seals, noticed as corrosion, fogging or failed test

Service & Maintenance

Check battery/service expiry, approved self-test, casing, antenna, activation arrangement and identification/registration. Verify mounting, lanyard, pole or hydrostatic-release arrangement where applicable and ensure deployment is unobstructed. Do not generate a live distress transmission during routine inspection unless an authorized test procedure specifically requires it.
