SAILOR 6120

Inmarsat Terminal · GMDSS

Class-certified type (DNV register) · technical data sheet not yet verified

The Thrane & Thrane SAILOR 6120 is a shipboard satellite communications terminal. It is normally installed at the bridge/communications rack with an exposed-deck satellite antenna. It is designed for long-range ship-shore voice/data and safety communications according to the approved service. The operating principle relies on satellite radio link between the vessel terminal and the subscribed network. Compared with neighbouring models, the relevant differences are satellite service, antenna type, bandwidth, network interfaces and GMDSS approval; these must be confirmed from the installed documentation rather than inferred from the model designation alone. Service and survey attention should concentrate on network log-in, antenna status, cables, power, identity and any distress/safety functions. For exact ratings, dimensions, tolerances, test limits and model-specific settings, refer to the manufacturer documentation for the exact figure.

Service

Service notes.

What our service work and the manufacturer documentation say about keeping this model running.

Carry out the permitted operational/self-tests, inspect antennas, feeders, connectors, controls and cooling, and verify normal and emergency power where required. Check vessel identity, position and interfaces appropriate to the equipment type and review recurring alarms or logbook entries. A radio surveyor should confirm the installation and programmed data against the approved radio documentation.

Free of charge — we forward your request to qualified suppliers for Thrane & Thrane equipment from our network of over 114,000 maritime companies.

Makers and authorised dealers rarely quote marine equipment without the vessel. With these details we usually come back with prices; without them we have to ask first, which costs a few days. If you cannot share the vessel, a photo of the equipment’s rating plate does the same job — send it as a reply to our confirmation e-mail.
