ES-5100

Tokyo Keiki ES-5100 is a marine speed-log system. It is normally installed on the bridge with underwater sensor equipment in the hull and display or processing units in the navigation console. Its primary purpose is to measure vessel speed for navigation, collision avoidance and other bridge systems. Compared with GNSS-derived speed, a dedicated log measures speed from its own hull-mounted sensor principle and may provide water-referenced or ground-referenced information depending on the installed technology. The supplied record already contains the available concise model or rating information, so those existing figures are not duplicated here and no additional meaning is inferred from the model code. For exact ratings, dimensions, settings, capacities, materials and variant-specific limits, refer to the manufacturer documentation for the exact figure.

Common failures & inspection points

Sensor fouling, marine growth or damage causes low, erratic or missing speed readings
Cabling or transducer faults cause intermittent data or complete loss of speed indication
Incorrect calibration or setup causes a persistent difference from expected vessel speed
Processor or display faults cause frozen values, alarms or loss of output to other bridge systems
Air bubbles, aeration or disturbed water flow around the sensor cause unstable readings under certain operating conditions

Service & Maintenance

Inspect accessible transducer connections, cabling, processor and display. Compare indicated speed with independent references while considering current and sensor type. Check data output to radar, ECDIS and other consumers. Exact calibration values and docking inspection criteria require manufacturer documentation.
